Local ARTS Educational OUTREACH: Spring 2012
  17 artists • 18 programs
16 schools • 8 centers|organizations
8 visiting artists • 9 LSS resident teaching artists

LEAF in Schools & Streets (LSS) has both IN-SCHOOL and AFTER-SCHOOL programs. We are in public, private, charter and home schools. LSS also works in public housing communities, community centers, group homes, juvenile detention facilities and more. Before each festival, LEAF sends out a list of available LSS artists. Our role is to match these artists with teachers and classrooms or after-school programs. Teaching Artists work with youth to create a performance through rich, hands-on learning experiences that culminate with an opportunity for youth to perform on-stage at LEAF. Parents and youth report a variety of responses including increased self-esteem, exposure to ethnicity and cultural awareness, confidence and a sense of our global community. In turn, youth gain an experience of a lifetime. Click here to find out our program models. (see below)
